OTE's mission is to promote technology transfer from the most advanced areas Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to schools, in order to ensure a constant relationship between academic communities, research centres, net-economy companies and school.

OTE was created as a new experience in the year 2000-2001 and is managed by Ufficio scolastico Regionale per la Liguria MIUR ; to expand OTE's activities a cooperation contract with Università degli Studi di Genova was signed since the year 2002-2003.

OTE's tasks are:

• monitoring of new trends in Information and Communication Technology;
• on-line tutoring of schools on technological resources management;
• supply of examples of applied solutions, ready to be put into practice;
• on-line free software collection and distribution.

Osservatorio Tecnologico is a support tool for the community of "C level" teachers, inside FOR-TIC, a national teacher training program.

OTE was financed by Direzione Innovazione e sistema informativo MIUR

It ensures constant cooperation between school and ICT, producing insights, reviews, guidelines and news to be released on-line.

OTE being an ICT service is published only on the Net.

Online help directly to schools and basic computer literacy are not part of OTE's tasks.

The Osservatorio Tecnologico has been realized as tele-work by a group of researchers, specialists and teachers experts in ICT living in different parts of the Country.
